Bulldogs knock off Greenup County 34-7

GREENUP – Visiting Lawrence County knocked off Greenup County 34-7 in a high school football game on Friday, Sept. 3.

Five different Bulldogs scored touchdowns in the win over Greenup County.

Following a scoreless first quarter, Lawrence County reached the endzone in the second period on the way to moving ahead 7-0.

But Greenup County answered, pulling even at 7-7 prior to halftime.

After the game entered intermission tied, Lawrence County outscored Greenup County 27-0 in the second half to pull away to win convincingly.

The Bulldogs rushed 21 times for 223 yards.

Running back Blue Fletcher led Lawrence County, rushing four times for 86 yards and one touchdown.

Following Fletcher, quarterback Alex Strickland rushed two times for 62 yards and one touchdown for the Bulldogs.

Contributing on the ground for Lawrence County, Douglas Hall added another rushing touchdown.

Strickland led Lawrence County through the air, completing three of six passes for 121 yards and one touchdown.

Kaden Gillispie hauled in a 57 yard scoring reception from Strickland as the Bulldogs.

Defensively, Lawrence County limited Greenup County to 161 yards.

Tyson Sammons reached the endzone for Greenup County's only touchdown, scoring on a six-yard run in the second quarter.

Wyatt Perkins was the Musketeers' leading rusher, taking six carries for 47 yards.

Lawrence County is scheduled to host Russell on Thursday, Sept. 9.
