PIKEVILLE — Claiming a win on the road, Martin County defeated Pikeville 74-63 in a matchup between two 15th Region boys’ basketball title contenders at the T.W. Oliver Memorial Gymnasium on Saturday, Dec. 14.

After registering the win, Martin County moved to 4-1.

Martin County shot 37.7 percent (23-of-61) from the field. The Cardinals made seven of 28 three-point field goal attempts.

Martin County shot 75 percent (21-of-28) from the free throw line.

Parker Watts scored a game-high 27 points for the Cardinals.

Joining Watts in double figures for Martin County, Bryson Dials scored 17 points, Peyton Davis netted 16 points and Devan Maynard tallied 10 points.

Chipping in offensively for Martin County, Eli Mills and Brayden Estep added two points apiece.

Martin County 93, Grace Christian (W.Va.) 47: Martin County pulled away to defeat Grace Christian (W.Va.) 93-47 on Friday, Dec. 13.

The Cardinals turned in a dominant performance, winning convincingly.

Martin County shot 55.9 percent (38-of-68) from the field. The Cardinals shot 37.1 percent (13-of-35) from three-point range.

Martin County shot 57.1 percent (four-of-seven) from the free throw line.

Parker Watts scored a game-high 32 points for the Cardinals.

Accompanying Watts in double figures for Martin County, Peyton Davis scored 15 points, Eli Mills netted 11 points and Bryson Dials added 10 points.

Martin County’s offensive attack featured 10 different scorers. Devan Maynard (eight points), Chase Hinkle (five points), Alan Moore (four points), Jaxson Pack (three points), Skyler Morrison (three points) and Brayden Estep (two points) finished in single digits in the Cardinals’ scoring column.

Estep paced Martin County inside, claiming 10 rebounds for the Cardinals.
