Bulldogs win two of three games in ETBCA Tournament

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Lawrence County won two of three games in the East Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Tournament April 3-4.
The Bulldogs exited spring break 6-5.
Lawrence County 8, Westview (Ind.) 7: Lawrence County outlasted Westview (Ind.) 8-7 in the East Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Tournament on Wednesday, April 3.
Pitching in relief for Lawrence County, Colin Howard claimed the win on the mound. Howard pitched two innings and struck out one Westview batter.
Braxton Davis started on the mound for Lawrence County and pitched five innings. Davis recorded four strikeouts.
Another Lawrence County hurler, Boedy Maynard, pitched one inning in relief.
The Bulldogs scored eight runs on 10 hits. Howard (one hit), Maynard (one hit), Talan Pollock (two hits, one RBI), Eli Fletcher (two hits), Gray Derifield (one hit, two RBIs), Logan Whisenant (one hit, one RBI), Owen Pack (one hit, one RBI) and Abner Collinsworth (one hit) accounted for Lawrence County’s offense. Pollock, Fletcher and Derifield each doubled.
Lawrence County 12, Fulton (Tenn.) 0 (5 innings): Lawrence County shut out Fulton (Tenn.) 12-0 in five innings during the East Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Tournament on Thursday, April 4.
Boedy Maynard pitched a three-hit shutout for the Bulldogs. Maynard recorded four strikeouts.
The Bulldogs excelled throughout the game, scoring 12 runs on 14 hits. Lawrence County’s offensive attack included Maynard (three hits, one RBI), Abner Collinsworth (three hits, two RBIs), Eli Fletcher (two hits, one RBI), Gray Derifield (two hits, one RBI), Tyger Cavins (one hit, two RBIs), Talan Pollock (one hit, one RBI), Ford Scaggs (one hit), Colin Howard (one hit), Blake Prater (one RBI) and Logan Whisenant (one RBI). Fletcher doubled twice for Lawrence County in its shutout win.
South-Doyle (Tenn.) 11, Lawrence County 5: Lawrence County slipped into the loss column as host South-Doyle (Tenn.) pulled away to win 11-5 in the East Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Tournament on Thursday, April 4.
Ford Scaggs started on the mound for Lawrence County and suffered the loss.
Following Skaggs, Logan Whisenant and Tyger Cavins each pitched in relief for the Bulldogs.
Lawrence County scored five runs on nine hits. Whisenant (one hit), Abner Collinsworth (three hits, one RBI), Talan Pollock (two hits, one RBI), Jake Derifield (one hit, two RBIs), Gray Derifield (one hit, one RBI) and Eli Fletcher (one hit) each contributed at the plate for Lawrence County during the tournament game.
