Bulldogs to tip off 2023-24 season at home versus West Carter

LOUISA — Lawrence County is scheduled to tip off the 2023-24 boys’ high school basketball season at home versus West Carter on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

The Bulldogs and Comets are rivals from bordering regions.

Lawrence County notched nearly 20 wins in the 2022-23 boys’ high school basketball season while West Carter was limited.

The defending 58th District champion, Lawrence County compiled a 19-15 record in the 2022-23 boys’ high school basketball season.

After capturing the 58th District title, Lawrence County reached the semifinals of the 2022-23 15th Region Boys’ Basketball Tournament.

Following a loss in the semifinals of the 62nd District Boys’ Basketball Tournament, West Carter finished with a 7-20 record in the 2022-23 season.

The Bulldogs and Comets met once in the 2022-23 boys’ high school basketball season. Notching an early-season win, Lawrence County pulled away to defeat West Carter 80-65 on Dec. 10, 2022.

Lawrence County’s 2023-24 schedule will include games versus West Carter, Dawson-Bryant (Ohio), Morgan County, Portsmouth (Ohio), Betsy Layne, Raceland, Fairview, Prestonsburg, Russell, Floyd Central, East Ridge, Wayne (W.Va.), Pike County Central, East Carter, Huntington St. Joseph, Lewis County, Fairview, Paintsville and Ashland, among others.

The Bulldogs will open preseason practice in mid-October.
