Bulldogs to host Russell, East Carter for scrimmages

LOUISA — Lawrence County is set to host Class 3A rivals Russell and East Carter for a pair of scrimmages in the 2024 high school football preseason.
The Bulldogs, under the direction of Coach Alan Short, opened preseason practice following the conclusion of the KHSAA Dead Period.
Lawrence County is scheduled to host Russell for its first scrimmage in the 2024 high school football preseason at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9.
Then, one week later, Lawrence County is scheduled to host East Carter for its second scrimmage in the 2024 high school football preseason at 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16.
Lawrence County competes in Class 3A, District 8.
Both Russell and East Carter compete in Class 3A, District 6.
Lawrence County compiled an 8-4 record in the 2023 high school football season. The Bulldogs reached the second round of the 2023 KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs.
Russell posted a 7-5 record in the 2023 high school football season. The Red Devils also reached the second round of the 2023 KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs.
East Carter put together a 9-3 record in the 2023 high school football season. Along with Lawrence County and Russell, East Carter reached the second round of the 2023 KHSAA Class 3A Playoffs.
Lawence County has regular season games scheduled versus Rowan County, Shelby Valley, Perry County Central, Harlan County, Estill County, Belfry, Magoffin County, Powell County, Boyd County and Mason County. The Bulldogs are slated to host Rowan County for a 2024 season opener at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23.
