Bulldogs to host Pike County Central in Class 3A Playoffs

LOUISA — Lawrence County is set to host Pike County Central in the first round of the Class 3A UK Orthopaedics/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl on Thursday, Nov. 19.
The Bulldogs edged the Hawks 29-28 when the two teams met for a Class 3A, District 8 game during the 2020 high school football regular season in October.
Lawrence County exited the regular season 3-1 overall and in the district.
Quarterback Alex Strickland and running back Dylan Ferguson combined to lead Lawrence County past Pike County Central in the district matchup during the regular season. Through the air, Strickland completed three of seven passes for 58 yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Strickland rushed 13 times for 38 yards and one touchdown for the Bulldogs. Pacing Lawrence County on the ground, Ferguson rushed 15 times for 112 yards and one touchdown in the district win.
Pike County Central features sophomore running back Matt Anderson, one of the state's top rushers. Anderson rushed 159 times for 1,325 yards and 20 touchdowns in eight games during the regular season.
As a team, Pike County Central has rushed 388 times for 3,534 yards and 43 touchdowns. Following Anderson, quarterback Tayvian Boykins has rushed 93 times for 904 yards and eight touchdowns. Behind Boykins, running back Keegan Bentley has rushed 84 times for 874 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Pike County Central finished the regular season 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the district.
Kickoff for the Lawrence County-Pike County Central football game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
