FOLEY, Ala. — Prestonsburg High School graduate Johnathan Stanley scored an individual national championship while the Union College archery program collected a total of eight podium finishes to place fourth at the 2020 USA Archery Collegiate 3D Nationals in October.

The two-day event was held at the Graham Creek Interpretive Center in Foley, Ala.

The Bulldogs tallied a total of 85 points to land fourth overall.

A freshman from Prestonsburg, Stanley put together an impressive performance in the men's barebow division. He found himself sitting fourth overall following the opening round with 167 points, seven behind the leader. Stanley, though, turned in a score of 176 in the final round for a total score of 343, claiming the national title by three points.

Haley Golden secured Union's only other individual podium finish, placing second in the women's compound. The senior racked up 216 total points, putting her two behind the eventual winner.

The Bulldogs registered six team podium finishes with the men's bowhunter team bringing home the gold. The trio of Chase Herndon, Jeffrey Grubb and Dakota Smith combined to score 1,269 points to finish 15 points ahead of the team from University of the Cumberlands.

Union's women's compound and mixed bowhunter teams each brought home silver, while the men's compound, women's bowhunter, and mixed compound squads all collected bronze.

Union is scheduled to compete in the Mid-South Conference (MSC) Indoor Championships in Madisonville January 29-31
