LOUISA — Lawrence County is scheduled to visit Powell County for a preseason high school football scrimmage on Friday, Aug.6.

The Bulldogs, under the guidance of head coach Alan Short, compiled a 4-2 record in the shortened 2020 high school football season.

Lawrence County outlasted Pike County Central 22-20 in the opening round of the 2020 Class 3A Playoffs. Due to a COVID cancellation, Lawrence County was unable to play perennial state title contender Belfry in the second round of the high school football postseason in 2020.

Lawrence County competes in Class 3A, District 8.

The Pirates, under the direction of head coach Mike Jones,ended the 2020 high school football season 2-4. After putting together a 1-3 record in district competition, Powell County failed to advance to the postseason in 2020.

Powell County competes in Class 3A, District 6.

Lawrence County resumed preseason practice at the start of the week.

The Bulldogs are scheduled to host Harrison County for a high school football season opener on Friday, Aug. 20.
