Bulldogs suffer shutout loss to Greenup County

LLOYD — Visiting Lawrence County was held scoreless as Greenup County pulled away to win 9-0 in a high school baseball game on Saturday, April 3.

Following the loss, Lawrence County dropped to 2-1. Greenup County, which moved to 3-0 after claiming the win, outhit the Bulldogs 10-3 and finished error-free defensively.

Carson Wireman earned the win on the mound for the Musketeers. Wireman pitched four and a third innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out six and walking one.

Contributing on the mound for Greenup County, Jonah Gibson threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Will Lafferty started on the mound for Lawrence County. Lafferty surrendered four runs on six hits over three innings, walking one.

Talon Pollock and Jake Derifield worked out of relief roles for the Bulldogs, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one and one-third innings, respectively.

Wireman, Matthew Boggs, Cohen Underwood, Brock Kitchen and Austin Clarkson collected two hits apiece to pace Greenup County at the plate. Boggs and Clarkson recorded three RBIs apiece for he Musketeers while Underwood drove in two runs.

Lafferty, Derifield and Blue Fletcher provided one hit apiece for the Bulldogs.

Lawrence County committed one error in the loss.
