Bulldogs roll to district win over Blackcats

LOUISA — Lawrence County leveled Prestonsburg 90-44 in a 58th District boys’ basketball game on Friday, Jan. 23.
The Bulldogs were able to halt a losing skid at three games.
Lawrence County notched its 10th win in the 2025-26 boys’ high school basketball season.
As part of a balanced offensive attack for Lawrence County (10-9 overall, 3-1 58th District), five scorers reached double figures.
Hayden Perry paced Lawrence County, scoring 22 points and claiming nine rebounds for the Bulldogs. Perry led all players in scoring and rebounding.
Finishing directly behind Perry in Lawrence County’s scoring column, Isaah Hughes netted a career-high 21 points while Caden Muncy tallied 12 points.
Giving Lawrence County five scorers in double figures, Kaden Johnson and Andrew Ratcliff added 10 points apiece.
Narrowly missing double figures for Lawrence County, CJ Waller posted nine points.
Rounding out Lawrence County’s individual scoring, Grant Cochran and CJ Whitt chipped in three points apiece.
Lawrence County connected on 13 three-point field goals.
The Bulldogs shot 76.0 percent (19-of-25) from the free throw line.
Taegan Slone scored a team-high 13 points for the Blackcats. Slone was the only Prestonsburg player to reach double figures.
Barely missing double figures for Prestonsburg, Jacob Hylton netted nine points while Andrew Goble scored eight points.
The other scorers for Prestonsburg in the district game were Colin Hatfield (five points), Brady Allen (four points), Ryan Reynolds (four points) and Landon Spears (one point).
Prestonsburg connected on only three of 16 three-point field goal attempts. The Blackcats shot 56.5 percent (13-of-23) from the free throw line.
