Bulldogs outlast Tomcats in Septemberfest Bowl

LOUISA — Winning for the third time in less than three weeks, Lawrence County outlasted Ashland 24-21 in the Septemberfest Bowl at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 4.
The Bulldogs moved to 3-0 after securing the win.
Neither team could reach the endzone during the opening quarter. However, Ashland entered halftime clinging to a 7-6 lead.
Lawrence County moved ahead during the third quarter and led 18-14 heading into the final period.
Quarterback Luke Fetherolf led Lawrence County to the win. Excelling through the air, Fetherolf completed 16 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns. Ranking as Lawrence County’s leading passer and rusher, Fetherolf took six carries for 78 yards.
Kaden Johnson paced Lawrence County in receiving. Johnson hauled in six receptions for 115 yards and oner touchdown.
Behind Johnson, Carlo Chicko reeled in five receptions for 68 yards
In addition to Johnson’s scoring catch, Gray Derifield hauled in a 20-yard touchdown pass reception for the Bulldogs.
Lawrence County rushed 28 times for 169 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson and Cavin Williams each provided one rushing touchdown for the Bulldogs.
Chicko led Lawrence County defensively, recording a game-high 21 tackles. As part of a strong defensive effort for Lawrence County, Johnson posted 15 tackles and Williams tallied 12 tackles.
Johnson and Andrew Ratcliff each recorded one interception for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs have the week of Friday, Sept. 12 open. Lawrence County is scheduled to host North Laurel for its next game on Friday, Sept. 19.
