Bulldogs outlast Lions 62-59

VANCEBURG — Returning to the win column following three consecutive losses, Lawrence County outlasted host Lewis County 62-59 in a boys’ high school basketball game on Saturday, Jan. 14.
The Bulldogs and Lions combined to drain 21 three-point field goals in the boys’ high school basketball game.
Lawrence County shot 37.9 percent (22-of-58) from the field in its win. The Bulldogs thrived beyond the arc, shooting 44 percent (11-of-25) from three-point range.
Lawrence County shot 63.6 percent (seven-of-11) from the free throw line.
Hayden Perry scored 28 points to lead Lawrence County to the win. Perry hit six of 11 three-point field goal attempts.
Along with Perry reaching double figures for the Bulldogs, Andrew Bloomfield netted 16 points.
Following Bloomfield, Lawrence County’s other scoring came from Kaden Gillispie (five points), Blake Marcum (five points), Ford Scaggs (three points), Logan Ratliff (three points) and Will Lafferty (two points).
Lewis County shot 47.8 percent (22-of-46) from the field in the boys’ high school basketball matchup. The Lions shot 47.6 percent (10-of-21) from three-point range.
Lewis County shot 62.5 percent (five-of-eight) from the free throw line.
Caden Box scored 18 points to lead the Lions. Box hit six of 10 three-point field goal attempts.
Joining Box in double figures for Lewis County, Drew Noble netted 16 points.
Finishing near double figures for the Lions, Andrew Collins added nine points while Xavier Prater and Trey Gerike contributed eight points apiece.
