BUCKLEYS CREEK — Johnson Central knocked off Pike County Central 54-39 in a boys’ high school basketball game on Thursday, Jan. 12.
Prevailing on the road, Johnson Central shot 45.7 percent (21-of-46) from the field in the win over Pike County Central. The Golden Eagles shot 33.3 percent (two of six) from three-point range.
Johnson Central shot 55.6 percent (10 of 18) from the free throw line.
Controlling the backboards, Johnson Central outrebounded Pike County Central 30-22.
Ryan Rose led Johnson Central with a double-double, delivering 21 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Joining Rose in double figures for the Golden Eagles, Austin Slone netted 14 points.
Nearly reaching double figures for Johnson Central, Jacob Grimm added nine points and David Fink contributed eight.
Chipping in offensively, Mason Lawson tallied two points for the Golden Eagles.
Struggling offensively, Pike County Central shot 32.6 percent (15 of 46) from the field. Pike County Central’s shooting performance included connecting on only five of 27 three-point field goal attempts.
The Hawks shot 57.1 percent (four of seven) from the free-throw line.
Jaylan Rigdon scored a game-high 24 points to pace Pike County Central. Rigdon was the only Pike County Central player to reach double figures in scoring.
Jaden Stewart (four points), Blake Adams (four points), Brad Biliter (four points) and Camron Stafford (three points) followed Rigdon in scoring for the Hawks.
Leading Pike County Central inside, Stewart pulled down eight rebounds.
