Bulldogs lose one-run game to Murray

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Lawrence County dropped its final game at the Cal Ripken Experience as Murray held on to win 3-2 on Wednesday, April 6.

The Bulldogs exited the Cal Ripken Experience 9-5.

Nickolas Holcomb picked up the win on the mound for Region 1 member Murray. Holcomb allowed two runs on eight hits and two walks while registering five strikeouts.

Will Lafferty turned in a strong pitching performance on the mound for the Bulldogs but suffered the loss. Lafferty allowed only two earned runs on three hits and one walk while recording four strikeouts.

Kobe Watson led Murray at the plate, collecting two hits and driving in two runs.

Accounting for the rest of the Tigers’ offense, Andrew Orr added one hit and one RBI.

Grover Maynard paced Lawrence County at the plate. Maynard provided two hits, including a double.

Bryce Blevins singled and drove in one run for the Bulldogs,

Providing an extra-base hit for Lawrence County, Luke Patton doubled.

Contributing at the plate for the Bulldogs, Lafferty, Nick Collinsworth, Blue Fletcher and Cody Crum each singled.

Fairfax (Va.) 14, Lawrence County 2 (5 innings)

Lawrence County fell behind early and couldn’t overcome its slow start as Fairfax (Va.) pulled away to win 14-2 in five innings at the Cal Ripken Experience on Tuesday, April 5.

Talon Pollock suffered the loss on the mound for the Bulldogs.

Luke Patton paced Lawrence County at the plate, delivering two singles and one RBI.

Behind Patton, Eli Fletcher, Grover Maynard, Jake Derifield and Nick Collinsworth each singled for the Bulldogs. Fletcher drove in Lawrence County’s other run.

Highlands 4, Lawrence County 1

Lawrence County was limited at the plate as Highlands won 4-1 at the Cal Ripken Experience on Monday, April 4.

Jack Hendrix picked up the win on the mound for the Bluebirds.

Charlie Gorman (one hit, one RBI), Nathan Hartle (one hit, one RBI), Camden McAtee (one hit, one RBI), Nick Robinson (one hit, one RBI), Jack Schneider (one hit) and Connor Schwalbach (one hit) provided Highlands’ offense in the matchup.

Luke Patton suffered the loss on the mound for the Bulldogs.

Offensively for Lawrence County, Nick Collinsworth, Bryce Blevins and Eli Fletcher each singled while Blue Fletcher drove in the team’s lone run.

North Bullitt 9, Lawrence County 5

Lawrence County remained in the loss column as North Bullitt prevailed 9-5 at the Cal Ripken Experience on Monday, April 4.

Brady Wooldridge earned the win on the mound for the Eagles.

Jake Derifield suffered the pitching loss for the Bulldogs.

Tanner Wilson led North Bullitt at the plate, finishing 4-for-4 with three RBIs.

Following Wilson, Bryce Kittle, Owen Barger, Jayden Gajdik and Ryan Priest added two hits each for the Eagles.

Will Lafferty paced Lawrence County at the plate, delivering three hits.

Blue Fletcher, Abner Collinsworth and Bryce Blevins each added two hits and one RBI for the Bulldogs. Both Fletcher and Collinsworth doubled.

Aiding Lawrence County at the plate, Mason Preston doubled and drove in one run.

Andrew Mortimer
