Bulldogs knock off Wolves

CAMPTON — Winning on the road, Lawrence County defeated Wolfe County 6-2 on Thursday, May 8.

Lawrence County overcame a slow offensive start. The Bulldogs eventually connected for over a dozen hits.

Wolfe County plated two runs in the bottom half of the opening inning but was held scoreless throughout the rest of the game.

After crossing home plate once during its second at-bat, Lawrence County erupted for three runs in the top half of the third inning to move ahead.

Boedy Maynard pitched a complete game for Lawrence County and earned the win on the mound. Maynard held Wolfe County to two runs on five hits. The Lawrence County pitcher posted two strikeouts during his outing.

Lawrence County scored six runs on 13 hits. Maynard (three hits, one RBI), Eli Fletcher (three hits), Logan Whisenant (two hits), Gray Derifield (two hits), Colin Howard (one hit, two RBIs), Tyger Cavins (one hit, one RBI), Cameron Perkins (one hit), Owen Pack (one RBI) and Brady Caudill (one RBI) comprised a productive lineup for the Bulldogs. Both Fletcher and Whisenant doubled in Lawrence County’s win.

The Bulldogs and Wolves met for the first time in the 2025 high school baseball season.
