Bulldogs finish runner-up in 58th District

EASTERN — Lawrence County finished runner-up in the 58th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament.
Following a last second three-point field goal, Floyd Central outlasted Lawrence County 83-80 in overtime in the 58th District Boys’ Basketball Tournament title game.
Lawrence County led 34-26 at halftime but Floyd Central battled back from behind.
CJ Waller connected on a three-point field goal as time expired in regulation to tie the district title game 69-69 and send it into overtime.
Floyd Central outscored Lawrence County 14-11 in the extra period to claim the win.
Each team featured five scorers in double figures.
Dylan Boyd scored a team-high 22 points for Floyd Central while Brayden Turner netted 18 points.
Chris Spriggs, who made the game-winning shot, scored 13 points for the Jaguars.
Also reaching double figures in scoring for the winning team, James Samons and Lucas Howard added 11 points apiece.
Finishing in single digits, Logan Meade (five points) and Christian Johnson (two points) were the other scorers for the Jaguars.
Kaiden Harris scored a game-high 26 points for the Bulldogs.
Hayden Perry scored 19 points for Lawrence County while Kaden Johnson, Caden Muncy and CJ Waller added 11 points apiece.
Another scorer, Andrew Ratcliffe, chipped in two points for the Bulldogs.
