Bulldogs excel in 2021-22 debut, defeat Morgan County

WEST LIBERTY — Making a strong first impression in the 2021-22 boys' high school basketball season, visiting Lawrence County pulled away to defeat Morgan County 70-34 on Monday, Nov. 29.

Connecting on over half of its attempts, Lawrence County shot 51.9 percent (28-of-54) from the field. The Bulldogs were 7-of-15 (46.7 percent) from 3-point range.

Lawrence County shot 63.6 percent (7-of-11) from the free throw line.

Cody Maynard scored 20 points to lead the Bulldogs to the win. Lawrence County received double figures scoring from three different players. Joining Maynard in double figures in scoring for Lawrence County, Trenton Adkins added 15 points and Anthony Johnson contributed 11 points.

Adkins led Lawrence County inside, claiming seven rebounds.

The Bulldogs and Cougars aren't scheduled to meet again in the 2021-22 boys' high school basketball season.
