Balanced Lawrence County beats Hazard handily 70-27

HAZARD — Lawrence County used a balanced offensive attack to beat host and former 14th Region rival Hazard 70-27 in a girls' high school basketball game on Thursday, Dec. 2.
After notching the win, Lawrence County evened its record to 1-1.
Lawrence County featured four scorers in double figures.
Excelling offensively, Lawrence County shot 57.4 percent (27-of-47) from the field. The Bulldogs shot 57.9 percent (11-of-19) from 3-point range.
Lawrence County shot 83.3 percent (5-of-6) from the free throw line.
Sophie Adkins scored a game-high 17 points to lead Lawrence County to the win.
Following Adkins, Kensley Feltner scored 15 points for the Bulldogs.
Behind Feltner, Kaison Ward netted 12 points.
Accompanying three of her teammates in double figures, Brooke Neal provided 11 points.
Aiding Lawrence County's scoring effort, Emmallee Holt and Emily Artrip added eight points and seven points, respectively.
Feltner paced Lawrence County in another key category, collecting seven rebounds.

Lawrence County dropped its opener in the 2021-22 girls' high school basketball season as visiting West Carter prevailed 63-44 on Tuesday, Nov. 30.
Reigning 58th District champion Lawrence County shot 34.6 percent (18-of-52) from the field in the setback. The Bulldogs were 4-of-20 (20 percent) from 3-point range.
Lawrence County shot 50 percent (4-of-8) from the free throw line.
Kensley Feltner scored 16 points to lead the Bulldogs. Feltner shot 50 percent (7-of-14) from the field.
Joining Feltner in double figures in scoring for Lawrence County, Brooke Neal netted 10 points.
Following Neal, Kaison Ward and Emily Artrip added six points apiece for the Bulldogs.
Thriving inside, Ward claimed 10 rebounds.
