PAINTSVILLE — Lawrence County battled back from behind to beat former Johnson Central 6-5 on Tuesday, May 2.
The Bulldogs won after facing a three-run deficit in the first inning.
Pitching in relief for Lawrence County, Braxton Davis claimed the win. Davis pitched four innings, recording four strikeouts.
Talan Pollock picked up the save for the Bulldogs. Pollock pitched two-thirds of an inning, recording three strikeouts.
Cameron Kelsey started on the mound for Johnson Central and took the loss. Kelsey pitched three innings, registering five strikeouts.
Brock Butcher pitched four innings in relief for the Golden Eagles. Butcher recorded four strikeouts.
Pollock (one RBI), Eli Fletcher (two hits), Will Lafferty (one hit, one RBI), Jake Derifield (one hit, one RBI), Abner Collinsworth (one hit), Cody Crum (one hit) and Dylan Whitt (one RBI) each contributed to Lawrence County’s offensive effort.
Kelsey (one hit), Butcher (one hit, two RBIs), Boston Crace (two hits), Cole Ward (one hit, three RBIs), Brayden Shepherd (one hit), Gavin Crum (one hit) and Logan Morrow (one hit) each connected at the plate for defending 15th Region champion Johnson Central. Ward, a senior for the Golden Eagles, homered.
