Bulldogs dominate in win over Cardinals

LOUISA — Lawrence County pulled away to defeat Martin County 16-1 in four innings on Wednesday, April 23.
The Bulldogs set the tone early, erupting for eight runs in the bottom half of the first inning.
Boedy Maynard pitched for Lawrence County and earned the win on the mound. Maynard limited Martin County, allowing only one run on one hit while recording nine strikeouts.
Aiden Horn started on the mound for Martin County and suffered the loss.
In addition to Horn, Ryan Stephens and Jonothan Cline pitched for the Cardinals.
Players throughout Lawrence County’s lineup contributed at the plate. Helping his pitching cause at the plate, Maynard finished three-for-three.
Along with Maynard, Lawrence County received offensive contributions from Gray Derifield (two hits, two RBIs), Max Murriel (one hit, two RBIs), Brady Caudill (one hit, two RBIs), Cameron Perkins (one hit, two RBIs), Eli Fletcher (one hit, one RBI), Logan Whisenant (one hit) and Colin Howard (one RBI).
Six different players doubled for the Bulldogs.
Breaking up a no-hitter, Dylan Hale connected for Martin County’s lone hit.
