Bulldogs defeat Mason County 20-14

LOUISA — Lawrence County defeated visiting Mason County 20-14 in its final regular season game on Friday, Oct. 27.
The Bulldogs bounced back to win after suffering a loss to Boyd County one week earlier.
Lawrence County improved to 7-3 after posting the win.
The Bulldogs and Royals were tied 7-7 at the conclusion of the opening quarter.
Lawrence County and Mason County remained tied 7-7 at halftime, but the Bulldogs moved ahead after the intermission period.
The Bulldogs led 20-14 at the end of the third quarter and held Mason County out of the endzone during the final period to secure the win.
Quarterback Talan Pollock led Lawrence County, completing eight of 15 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns. Pollock threw one interception.
Logan Ratliff and Kaden Johnson each hauled in one touchdown pass reception for the Bulldogs.
Lawrence County rushed 47 times for 198 yards and one touchdown. Continuing to lead Lawrence County on the ground, Cody Crum rushed 17 times for 105 yards.
Contributing to Lawrence County’s offensive attack, William McDavid rushed 15 times for 61 yards and one touchdown.
Delivering defensively for the Bulldogs, Kaden Johnson recorded one interception.
Providing a lift on special teams for Lawrence County, kicker Gage Cox connected on each of his extra-point kick attempts.
Quarterback Keshaun Thomas paced Mason County through the air, completing 10 of 23 passes for 196 yards and one touchdown. Thomas threw one interception in the regular season finale.
Landon Scilley hauled in three receptions for 98 yards and one touchdown to lead Mason County in receiving.
The Royals rushed 25 times for 117 yards and one touchdown. Kenton Johnson supplied one rushing touchdown for the Royals.
Defensively for Mason County, MeCaiyon Jackson recorded 12 tackles while Nazir Metts supplied one interception.
Lawrence County is scheduled to host Knox Central in the opening round of the KHSAA Class 3A State Playoffs on Friday, Nov. 3. Kickoff for the Lawrence County-Knox Central game is set for 7:30 p.m.
