Bulldogs complete district sweep of Belfry

BELFRY — Lawrence County completed a sweep of 58th District boys' soccer rival Belfry over the weekend, wining 8-1 on Saturday, Sept. 25.One of the top boys' soccer teams in the 15th Region, Lawrence County claimed its sixth straight win. Blake Maynard and Luke Johnson scored four goals apiece to lead Lawrence County to the district win. Maynard recorded three assists while Johnson dealt out one assist. Contributing for Lawrence County in the district win, Brian Nelson and Peyton Brown provided two assists apiece. Lawrence County entered the week with regular season games remaining versus Pikeville and Martin County. Both the Bulldogs and Pirates are scheduled to compete in the 58th District Boys' Soccer Tournament in October.
