GRAYSON — Visiting Lawrence County blanked East Carter 2-0 in a boys' high school soccer match on Thursday, Sept. 23. Lawrence County recorded its sixth shutout win in the 2021 boys' high school soccer season. Luke Johnson netted two goals to lead Lawrence County to the shutout win. Contributing offensively for the Bulldogs, Blake Maynard and Andrew Vinson distributed one assist apiece. Goalkeeper Trenton Adkins led Lawrence County's defensive effort, recording a shutout with 14 saves.
Lawrence County 11, Belfry 1
Lawrence County pulled away to beat visiting Belfry 11-1 in a 58th District boys' soccer match on Tuesday, Sept. 21. Blake Maynard scored five goals and dealt out five assists to lead Lawrence County to the district win. Following Maynard, Luke Johnson netted four goals and distributed two assists for the Bulldogs, Rounding out Lawrence County's individual scoring, Will Dillow and Ryland Brady netted one goal apiece. Chipping in offensively for the Bulldogs, Ryder Brown and Andrew Vinson recorded one assist apiece. Pacing the Bulldogs defensively, goalkeeper Trenton Adkins logged six saves while giving up only one goal. Scoring for the Pirates, Jasper McCoy netted a goal off an assist from Gideon Ireson. Belfry goalkeeper Ian Loomis recorded 19 saves while allowing 11 goals.
