LOUISA — Behind strong pitching from senior Bryce Blevins and a balanced offensive attack, Lawrence County captured the 2A, Section 8 championship, defeating Rowan County 11-1 in five innings at Randy Keeton Field on Friday, April 15.
Blevins allowed only one run on five innings over five innings in the section tournament championship game.
Rowan County pitcher Chase Alderman suffered the loss on the mound. Alderman allowed seven runs on six hits and two walks while recording three strikeouts over two innings.
Working in relief on the mound for Rowan County, Jayson Ingles and Colby Wilburn pitched two innings and one inning, respectively.
Aiding his pitching cause at the plate, Blevins drilled two doubles and collected two RBIs.
Will Lafferty added two hits and two RBIs for the Bulldogs in the championship-clinching victory.
Along with Blevins and Lafferty, Blue Fletcher added two hits, including a double, while driving in one run.
Helping to move runners around the bases for Lawrence County, Abner Collinsworth singled and drove in one run.
Contributing at the plate for the Bulldogs, Luke Patton and Eli Fletcher added one hit apiece.
Wilburn, Hayden Mains and Maguire Goldy each collected one hit for the Vikings. Goldy drove in Rowan County’s lone run.
The Bulldogs are scheduled to face Bell County in the opening round of the 2A Baseball State Tournament in Owensboro on Friday, April 22.
