PRESTONSBURG — The Bulldogs are still on top in the 58th District.
Lawrence County notched a shutout win in the 58th District Baseball Tournament title game, beating Floyd Central 10-0 in five innings at Prestonsburg Sports Park on Monday, May 31.
Bryce Blevins earned the win on the mound for the Bulldogs. Blevins allowed zero runs on one hit, recording 11 strikeouts while walking zero over five innings.
Caleb Hager started on the mound for the Jaguars and suffered the pitching loss. Hager allowed six runs on five hits over one inning, walking zero.
Closing out the game on the mound for Floyd Central, Dylan Mosley pitched three and a third innings in relief.
Lawrence County outhit Floyd Central 12-1 while committing two errors.
Ethan Whitt, Brayden Maynard, Blue Fletcher, Abner Collinsworth and Nick Collinsworth recorded two hits apiece for Lawrence County in the championship-clinching victory. Whitt doubled for the Bulldogs.
Nick Rackey recorded Floyd Central's only hit.
Defensively, Floyd Central committed three errors.
Both Lawrence County and Floyd Central advanced to the 15th Region Baseball Tournament.
