PIKEVILLE — Winning on a neutral field, Lawrence County blanked former 57th District rival Johnson Central 6-0 in the 15th Region Lead-Off Classic at Pikeville High School on Tuesday, March 15.

The Bulldogs and Golden Eagles met for a season opener.

On the mound for Lawrence County, starting pitcher Luke Patton and reliever Blue Fletcher combined to shut out former 57th District rival Johnson Central.

Patton and Fletcher combined to pitch a three-hitter and recorded 13 strikeouts. Patton registered eight strikeouts in his winning effort.

Hunter Blevins started on the mound for reigning 15th Region champion Johnson Central and suffered the pitching loss.

Mason Preston provided two hits and drove in one run for the Bulldogs.

Nick Collinsworth and Talon Pollock each doubled and scored for Lawrence County in the win. Driving in a run, Collinsworth added an RBI as the Bulldogs won via the shutout.

Another key contributor for Lawrence County, Bryce Blevins drove in two runs and scored.

Keygan Pelfrey, Cameron Kelsey and Connor Lemaster provided one hit apiece for the Golden Eagles. Pelfrey doubled for Johnson Central in the Golden Eagles’ season opener.

Lawrence County is scheduled to host Johnson Central on May 3.
