Bulldogs beat Floyd Central, 5-2

LOUISA — Lawrence County beat visiting Floyd Central 5-2 in a 58th District baseball game on Wednesday, April 26.

Will Lafferty secured the win on the mound for the Bulldogs. Lafferty, who nearly pitched a complete game, limited Floyd Central to one earned run on six hits while recording 10 strikeouts.

Talan Pollock replaced Lafferty on the mound for Lawrence County and claimed the save. Pitching in relief, Pollock recorded the final out of the game.

Floyd Central pitcher Jacob Bentley suffered the loss on the mound. Bentley allowed four earned runs on six hits while recording five strikeouts over six innings.

Abner Collinsworth (two hits, two RBIs), Braxton Davis (one hit, two RBIs), Jake Derifield (two hits), Cody Crum (one hit) and Eli Fletcher (one hit) each connected at the plate for Lawrence County in the 58th District matchup.

Bentley (two hits) and Jenkins (two hits) combined to pace Floyd Central at the plate. Helping his pitching cause, Bentley doubled for the Jaguars.

Lawrence County is scheduled to visit Floyd Central on Wednesday, May 3.
