LOUISA — Lawrence County beat visiting West Carter 67-63 in its 2023-24 season opener on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

Former 15th Region champion Lawrence County delivered a solid performance in its season debut.

Lawrence County shot 39.7 percent (25-of-63) from the field. The Bulldogs made eight of 31 three-point field goal attempts.

Lawrence County shot 75 percent (nine-of-12) from the free throw line.

Andew Bloomfield scored 20 points to lead Lawrence County to the win.

Accompanying Bloomfield in double figures for Lawrence County, Hayden Perry netted 19 points.

Following Bloomfield, Blake Marcum (seven points), Luke Fetherolf (seven points), Braxton Davis (five points), Ford Scaggs (five points) and Logan Ratliff (four points) provided Lawrence County’s additional scoring.

West Carter lost despite shooting 50 percent (22-of-44) from the field. Limited beyond the arc, West Carter connected on only one of seven three-point field goal attempts.

The Comets shot 75 percent (18-of-24) from the free throw line.

Jordan Fuston scored 20 points to lead the Comets. Fuston shot 100 percent (seven-of-seven) from the field.

Joining Fuston in double figures for West Carter, Brett Dailey scored 18 points.

Finishing in single digits, Jacob Waddell (eight points), Nathan Webb (six points), Braydon DeHart (five points), Nick Parker (four points) and Brady Boggs (two points) accounted for the rest of West Carter’s scoring.
