Bulldogs beat Ashland

LOUISA — Lawrence County beat Ashland 6-4 in a late-season high school baseball game on Wednesday, May 14.

Eli Fletcher pitched two and two-thirds innings in relief for Lawrence County and earned the win on the mound.

Boedy Maynard started on the mound for Lawrence County and then returned to close out the game. Maynard, who pitched four and two-thirds innings in total, claimed the save on the mound.

Fletcher and Maynard each recorded two strikeouts.

Chandler Kisor pitched one inning in relief for Ashland and took the loss on the mound. Kisor posted two strikeouts during his outing.

LJ Murphy started on the mound for Ashland and pitched five innings. Murphy recorded four strikeouts.

Lawrence County scored six runs on 10 hits. Tyger Cavins (three hits, two RBIs), Logan Whisenant (two hits, two RBIs), Gray Derifield (two hits), Cameron Perkins (two hits) and Colin Howard (one hit, one RBI) each thrived at the plate in Lawrence County’s winning effort. Cavins delivered the game-winning RBI while Whisenant doubled.  

Ashland plated four runs on seven hits. Kisor (two hits), Brady Marushi (two hits, three RBIs), Asher Moore (two hits) and Drew Kelley (one hit, one RBI) accounted for Ashland’s offense.
