Boyd County edges Lawrence County 40-38

LOUISA — Boyd County held on to edge Lawrence County 40-38 on Monday, Feb. 10.

The Lady Lions overcame a sub-par offensive performance to claim the win.

Boyd County shot 26.7 percent (16-of-60) from the field. The Lady Lions made five of 27 three-point field goal attempts.

Boyd County shot 30 percent (three-of-10) from the free throw line.

Kollyn Groves scored a game-high 13 points for the Lady Lions. Groves connected on three of 10 three-point field goal attempts.

Finishing directly behind Groves in Boyd County’s scoring column, Isabella Opell netted 12 points.

Behind Opell, Jada Ray (seven points), Zoey Smith (six points) and Myla Hamilton (two points) were Boyd County’s additional scorers.

Making an impact inside for Boyd County, Sophie Stevens claimed 10 rebounds of her own.

Lawrence County shot 31.9 percent (15-of-47) from the field. The Lady Bulldogs made four of 21 three-point field goal attempts.

Lawrence County shot 76.2 percent (16-fo-21) from the free throw line.

Sophie Adkins poured in a game-high 28 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs.

Narrowly missing double figures for Lawrence County, Abby Maynard scored nine points while Jada Patton netted seven points, Gracie Woods posted three points and Emalynn Kitts added two points.
