Blevins no-hits Prestonsburg

LOUISA — Senior pitcher Bryce Blevins threw his second straight no-hitter to lead Lawrence County over Prestonsburg 6-0 on Senior Night in a 58th District baseball game at Randy Keeton Field on Wednesday, May 11.
Lawrence County moved ahead early, scoring one run in the bottom half of the first inning.
A perennial contender for the 15th Region title, Lawrence County scored five runs over its last two at-bats to pull away for the district win.
Blevins narrowly missed pitching a perfect game. The Marshall University signee recorded 12 strikeouts as he pitched a no-hit shutout and earned the win on the mound for the Bulldogs.
Payton Burke took the loss on the mound for the Blackcats. Burke pitched five innings, allowing three runs on four hits while recording four strikeouts.
Closing out the game on the mound for Prestonsburg, Seth Fitch pitched one inning.
Lawrence County plated six runs on six hits.
Luke Patton went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Bulldogs. Following Patton in Lawrence County’s offensive attack, Will Lafferty, Eli Fletcher, Mason Preston and Brayden Maynard each contributed one hit. Lafferty doubled in the Bulldogs’ win.
Maynard provided two RBIs while Fletcher drove in one run.
