PIKEVILLE — University of Pikeville freshman Sophie Adkins has received multiple honors from the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) following her first season of women’s college basketball.

Adkins is a Lawrence County High School graduate. Prior to college, Adkins was a leader for the Lawrence County girls’ basketball program.

A native of Louisa, Adkins has been named to the Appalachian Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball All-Freshman Team. Adkins averaged 11.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game for the University of Pikeville in the 2025-26 women’s college basketball season. She connected on 47.9 percent of her shots from the field and made 78.0 percent of her attempts from the free throw line.

In addition, Adkins was named to the Academic All-Appalachian Athletic Conference Team. To be nominated for the academic all-conference team, by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and be in their third term or fourth quarter.
