Lawrence County will be starting a new youth wrestling team that will be competing in the Tri-State Youth Wrestling League (TSYWL) consisting of multiple teams from Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky. Wrestling is a great sport for all ages and helps to improve strength, agility, flexibility and mental toughness all while having fun! The wrestlers will have practices, compete in a regular season schedule against other teams and finish the year with the TSYWL league championship.
The league has various ages groups ranging from 4-12 years of age. Sign ups for Lawrence County Youth Wrestling will now until final rosters are completed at the beginning of December.
Practices will begin in the evenings starting in November and will be held at Louisa East Elementary School, 235 Powhatan St. A practice schedule will be released with dates, times, etc. Regular season competition will begin around December 10th, and will consist of weekly events held at various locations. The majority of the regular season matches will be held on Friday evenings. The league championship concludes the season is held in early February.

The Fort Gay Middle School Football Program is in the first phase of establishing a new game field at the middle school on the former site of the Fort Gay High School practice field.
The Wayne County Board of Education has agreed to provide the bleachers and goal posts but the school must raise funds for the scoreboard, lighting and concession stand.
Fort Gay High School Alumni Association President, Gary A. Huff has volunteered to raise funds for the scoreboard which costs $7,700. Checks can be made out and mailed to Fort Gay Pre K-8, #1 Viking Drive, Fort Gay, WV 25514.
