Three more deaths reported in Johnson

Three more COVID-19-related deaths were reported in the Big Sandy region, and all were in one county.

Johnson County reported one coronavirus-related death Oct. 5 and two more on Monday, bringing its total to 62 since the pandemic began in 2020.

Lawrence County has had 39 COVID-19-related deaths and Martin County has reported 35 since March 2020.

Floyd County does not keep a running total of its coronavirus-related deaths.

A total of 15,376 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the four counties since March 2020, including 2,499 in Lawrence, 4,090 in Johnson, 6,810 in Floyd and 1,977 in Martin.

The four counties reported 375 new coronavirus cases between Tuesday, Oct. 5, and Monday, Oct. 11, including 62 in Lawrence, 79 in Johnson, 174 in Floyd and 60 in Martin.

Active cases Monday included 62 in Lawrence County, 243 in Johnson County, 244 in Floyd County and 75 in Martin County.

All four counties remained in the red zone Monday with incidence rates of 65.3 in Lawrence, 27.7 in Johnson, 65.8 in Floyd and 47.2 in Martin.
