Martin County Grand Jury Issue 14 Indictments

INEZ —The Martin County Grand Jury issued 14 true bills on April 20.
Austin T. Jackson, 26, is charged in two indictments, with second-degree rape and second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor on the same day.
On or before April 1, 2021, Jackson was allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with another person (S.F. and E.G.) who were mentally incapacitated at the time and he induced, assisted, and/or caused a minor (S.F. and E.G.) to engage in the consumption of alcohol.
Gladys Maynard, 47, of Inez, is charged with theft of services over $10,000 or greater.
Beginning on Nov. 1, 2021 through a period ending Jan. 11, Maynard allegedly intentionally obtained services by deception or other means for approximately 13 months, namely water from the Martin County Water Company, to avoid services known to be available only for compensation in an amount exceeding $99,340.
Susan Cox, 56, of Davella, Jackie Haney, 28, and Harold P. Moore, 61, both of Debord, are charged with third-degree arson/complicity.
On or before Jan. 3, Cox, acting alone or in complicity with Moore and Haney allegedly set fire and burnt a Nissan Rogue valued at approximately $20,000 with the intent to destroy the vehicle and defraud creditors.
Tracy Johnson, 38, of Inez, is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance and second-degree possession of a controlled substance.
On or before Feb. 10, Johnson was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine and suboxone.
Ray Carter Jr., 52, of Beauty, is charged with flagrant non-support.
On or before Dec. 1, 2004, through Jan. 31, Carter allegedly failed to pay child support as the court ordered with a total amount exceeding $40,633.40.
Derrick N. Brewer, 38, of Kermit, W.Va., is charged with first-degree stalking and violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO.
On or before Feb. 2, through Feb. 16, Brewer allegedly intentionally made explicit or implicit threats to Ariel N. Carver, with the intent to place her in reasonable fear of serious physical injury after an EPO/DPO was placed in effect and he intentionally violated the terms of an order of protection after he was served.
Justin Fletcher, 33, of Tomahawk, is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment; first-degree fleeing or evading police; fourth-degree assault, child abuse; public intoxication, excluding alcohol and resisting arrest.
On or before Feb. 12, Fletcher allegedly engaged in conduct which created a substantial danger to his four-year-old juvenile son; he disregarded Sheriff John Kirk and Deputy David Adams orders to stop and created a substantial risk of serious physical injury or death; he caused physical injury to his 17-year-old juvenile son; he was in a public setting manifestly under the influence of controlled substances or other drugs and he attempted to prevent deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Department from effecting an arrest by using or threatening to use physical force.
Brian Adkins, 26, of Fort Gay, W.Va. is charged with first, second and third-degree possession of a controlled substance; no registration plates; inadequate silencer, muffler and operating a motor vehicle on a suspended or revoked operator’s license.
On or before Jan. 20, Adkins was allegedly in possession of Methamphetamine, Suboxone and Xanax; he was in physical control of a motor vehicle operating on a Kentucky roadway without proper registration plates, or a proper silencer and with a suspended or revoked operator’s license.
Benjamin Blackburn, 41, of Long Bottom, OH., is charged with receiving stolen property over $10,000.
On or before Oct. 21, 2022, Blackburn was allegedly knowingly and unlawfully in possession of electrical parts, heating pumps and hydraulic hoses and parts, with an approximate value exceeding $10,000.
Marcus Thompson, 24, of Ulyssess, is charged with theft by unlawful taking over $10,000.
On or before Feb. 4, Thompson allegedly took a 2015 F250 Ford pickup truck from Callaham Funeral Home with a value of $21,000.
Brandon Kirk, 34, of Warfield, is charged with first, and second-degree possession of a controlled substance and public intoxication.
On or before Feb. 8, Kirk was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine, buprenorphine and was manifestly under the influence of a controlled substance in a public setting.
