LOUISA —Lawrence County held their annual cleanup event on Earth Day, April 22, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. but additional events are scheduled.

They had 34 volunteers and the litter abatement crew collected 113 bags on Saturday. The roads that were cleaned included Bulldog Lane, Old Lick Creek Road, Hwy 2565, See Hill area, Cynthia Chapel, Hwy 707, City Park, Boat Ramp and Locks.

The Lawrence County Judge’s Office said that is not the final total. They will have a homeschool coop, ROCK homeschool, doing their cleanup on Apr. 27, and they aren’t sure but are expecting 60-90 participants, so the bags collected and the volunteers will be more.

“Of course, if anyone still wants to do schedule their own clean up, we can do that through April 30,” the Judge’s Office said. “The interested volunteers just need to let us know, we can provide supplies and the litter abatement crew will pick up the bags from that area. The forms can be picked up at the office or we can email them and the volunteers can return them to our office.”

Food was provided at the Lawrence County Community Center for volunteers, along with inflatables and by volunteering, they were also eligible to get an entry to the door prize giveaway. Breakfast was provided by Masterpiece Café’ and lunch was provided by Giovannis.

Sponsors for the event included, Walmart, TSC, Perry’s Wrecker Service, No Limits Fitness, Save-a-Lot, Rebel Rivers Outfitters, Lawrence County Public Library, Three Rivers Medical Center, First State Bank, Worldwide Equipment, Food City, Do it Best, Toro Loco, Advanced Auto Parts, Cash Express, Giovannis, Heaven Scent Florals, Rent-2-Own, Car City Automotive, Auto Zone, Tinley’s Boutique, Masterpiece Cafe and Justice Automotive.
