Martin County Grand Jury Indicts Seven

INEZ — A Martin County Grand Jury issued seven true bills on Oct. 5.
•Selwyn Glen Brewer, 55, of Beauty, is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possess/use drug paraphernalia; driving DUI suspended and resisting arrest.
On or before July 10, Brewer was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine and an altered glass pipe; he was in physical control of a motor vehicle while his operator’s license was suspended and he attempted to prevent Martin County Officers from effecting an arrest by using, or threatening to use physical force against the officers.
•Joann Reed, 64, of Beauty, is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance; prescription of a controlled substance not in the proper container and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
On or before May 15, Reed was allegedly in possession of Oxycodone and two naloxone strips not in the proper administered container and she appeared in a public place manifestly under the influence of alcohol to a degree that she may endanger herself or other persons or property or unreasonably annoy persons in her vicinity.
•Jonathan Mollett, 35, of Louisa, is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
On or about Sept. 27, Mollett was allegedly in possession of an Ithica brand 12-gauge shotgun after having been previously convicted of a felony.
•Gwyan Horn, also known as Guy Horn, 50, of Inez, is charged with second-degree terroristic threatening.
On Sept. 13, Horn allegedly intentionally threatened to commit any act likely to result in death or serious physical injury to any person, at a scheduled event, any person at a place of worship, any student group, teacher, volunteer worker or employee of a public or private elementary or secondary school, vocational school or institution of postsecondary education, or to any other person reasonably expected to lawfully be on school property or at a school sanctioned activity, if that threat is related to their employment by the school, or work or attendance at the school or school function, namely Shane Stafford, Principal of Eden Elementary, while acting within his official capacity.
•Nathan Blackburn, 28, of Warfield, is charged with first-degree sexual abuse of a victim under 12-years-old.
On or about July 26, 2022, Blackburn allegedly knowingly and unlawfully subjected a minor under the age of 12-years-old to sexual contact.
•John D. Perry, 73, of Eastlake, Ohio, is charged with two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 12-years-old and one count of first-degree sexual abuse.
On or about March 31, 2013 and April 5, 2015, Perry allegedly subjected a minor under the age of 12-years-old to sexual contact and on April 1, 2018 subjected a minor under the age of 16-years-old to sexual contact.
•Denver Messer, 38, of Breeden, W.Va., is charged with second and third-degree burglary; possession of burglar’s tools; fourth-degree assault, domestic violence and third-degree terroristic threatening.
On or before July 15, 2021, Messer allegedly entered the dwelling house/apartment of Kayla Fugate with the intent to commit the crime of assault; he entered and remained in the Dempsey Housing Apartment Complex after having been banned from the property and the complex previously; he was in possession of a claw hammer used for prying with pry marks being found on a sliding glass door at the residence; he assaulted his former domestic partner, Kayla Fugate, causing physical injury to her and he threatened the crime of murder and or assault against her.
