The Louisa City Pool is filled with water and ready for kids of all ages to splash away the summer.

The opening day for the public was Saturday, May 30, for everyone, however, due to schools not being closed for the year it will only be open for adults this week and reopen for the entire public on Saturday, June 5.

The pool staff will be offering swimming lessons beginning June 8 from 11-11:45 a.m. No registration required it will be first come first served with 20-kid capacity. Cost for the first week is $30 and additional weeks thereafter will be $25.

Adult Exercise classes will be offered Mon.-Fri., 10-11 a.m. Water Aerobics are Mon., Wed., and Fri. and open lanes are Tues. and Thurs. also at 10-11 a.m. they are $3 per class and you must be 18 years or older.

Pool parties are offered again this year but Mayor of Louisa Harold Slone said they are going fast so he urges everyone who wants to book a party to go ahead and get it on the schedule by going to https://www.cityoflouisa.org.

The mayor touted on city workers for their hard work in getting the pool opened.

“I want to personally thank our city employees for their extra hard work, dedication, and pride in getting the pool ready for another great summer season.

Over the past several weeks, our crews have spent countless hours cleaning, painting, preparing, and making sure the facility looks its very best for the families and children of our community,” said Mayor Slone. “Their efforts often happen behind the scenes, but they are a big part of what makes Louisa such a great place to live.”

The shark, that has become a favorite icon of the pool, was part of the final touches in preparing for the opening. The mayor said each year the kids will be able to rename the shark. Last year its name was Bubbles.

He said he looks forward to seeing what the kids come up with this year.

The mayor also thanked the city council for voting to keep the daily cost to swim in the pool at $3.

“That has then the price to get in the pool for the entire time I’ve been mayor so at least 14 years,” said Mayor Slone. “I’m tickled that the council cares about the kids and want to keep the pool affordable for them to come here and have a great time.”

There is a family rate for pool passes and the mayor urges everyone to visit the Louisa City Pool on Facebook for all information.
