Loretta Lynn Week
Johnson County Judge-Executive Mark McKenzie helped kick off Loretta Lynn Week in Johnson County Saturday with a ceremony at the country music legend’s homeplace at Butcher Hollow in Van Lear. The week-long celebration of Lynn’s 90th birthday, which is Thursday, included a free showing of the Oscar-winning film “Coal Miner’s Daughter” on Monday and the documentary “Loretta Lynn: Still A Mountain Girl” on Tuesday at the Historic Sipp Theatre in Paintsville. The celebration wraps up Thursday with a birthday party at U.S. 23 Country Music Highway Museum at 7 p.m.
