Lawrence County KEEN
Highway District 12’s Kentucky Engineering Exposure Network (KEEN) program spent Friday at Fallsburg Elementary School giving fourth- through eighth-grade students a lesson on bridges. The students worked together building bridges using K’nex model building sets that could withstand the most weight. Engineer John Michael Johnson presented a PowerPoint presentation to the students explaining some of the bridges constructed throughout Kentucky. Once each of the group’s bridge was constructed, they were placed on a machine that measured the amount of pressure the bridge could withstand before breaking. Attending the event from District 12 KEEN staff were John Michael Johnson, Tiffaney Tackett, Mitch Estep and public information officers Allen Blair and Shantana Woodward.
