LOUISA — Lawrence County E-911 has been having phone trouble with their administrative lines and is changing from Wind Stream or Synergy to AT&T this week, according to director Jill Jackson.
Lawrence County E-911 posted on Facebook March 20 that it was having phone issues and that AT&T lines are down.
“If you call 911, you may get Martin County 911,” the post said. “They will take your information and relay to us so we will be able to send you the help you need. Or you can call us direct on an alternate phone # 606-826-2905.”
Approximately four hours later, a new post said that E-911 was back up and running, but added that there were still issues with the system’s non-emergency lines. Citizens were told to call (606) 826-2905 for non-emergency situations.
Deputy Judge-Executive Vince Doty said that the administrative lines would affect the alarms, adding that their regular lines go through AT&T and that all lines would go through AT&T after the switch.
“The bill went from $547 per month to $4,000, and through AT&T, it will be $490-plus per month,” Doty said. “We will also have better service, and if there is a problem, they can be here in an hour to fix it. It’s just a better solution.”
