KSP Conducting Death Investigation in Floyd County

LANGLEY — Kentucky State Police issued a release on Jan. 18, saying that they are conducting a death investigation in the Langley community of Floyd County.
KSP troopers responded to the area, the release said and two females were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, but a third female, Kara Hanks, 44-year-old, of Melbourne was deceased.
Hanks body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
Kara was a cherished and beloved wife to Ben Hanks; unconditionally loving mom to Ellarie “Elly” Hanks and Porter Hanks; a true big sister to Krissy (John) Livingston, Katie (Joe) Zuerner, Donnie (Lauren) Glenn, and Kelly (Zach) Lux; a treasured daughter to Pat and Pam Glenn, and daughter-in-law to Mark and Roxiena Hanks, as well as sister-in-law to Jordan and Sarah Hanks. Aunt Kara will also be missed here on Earth by her 31 beloved nieces and nephews. Her distinctive laugh and her servant’s heart will be remembered by her vast church family and copious friends.
After high school, Hanks professionally trained and worked as a legal secretary for a time. She cared for her children and her home as well as her nieces, nephews and family and was deeply involved with the various ministries of her church, Grace Fellowship.
She led numerous bible studies, conducted classes on suffering well in chronic pain and guided others through biblical lament all while ministering to and mentoring countless young people. She also did administrative work at NKOL with her husband Ben.
Hanks was a voracious reader and her home library was boundless with everything from Louis L’Amour westerns to works on theology. There was no more important to her and so well worn as her Bible.
You are invited to come to share memories and stories of Kara Hanks on Friday, Jan. 19, at Grace Fellowship Church, Florence Campus, 9379 Gunpowder Road in Florence from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Directly following will be a funeral service at 1 p.m. at the church. Hanks will be laid to rest in a private ceremony for the family at Mt. Gilead Cemetery, 3410 Carthage Rd., in California, Ky. 41007.
The cause of death is under investigation, however no foul play is suspected, the release said.
The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Trooper Keithan Hamilton, who was assisted on scene by Kentucky State Police Post 9 personnel.
