Former Louisa Man Dies from Injuries Following a Motorcycle Crash

WAYNE, W.VA. — David Ray Fitchpatrick, 45, formerly of Louisa died Feb. 10, following a motorcycle crash with an SUV in the Ballangee Branch of Wayne County.

Fitchpatrick and his wife were riding on the motorcycle when they hit an SUV. Fitchpatrick was killed and his wife, Meg Fitchpatrick was taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, Wayne County Sheriff Rick Thompson said. He also said that no injuries were reported from occupants in the SUV.

Fitchpatrick was a truck driver for House-Hasson Hardware at Prichard, W.Va.

Survivors include is wife Meg Bartel Fitchpatrick; a daughter, Megan Fitchpatrick; two sons, David and Johnny Fitchpatrick; his mother, Jewel Fitchpatrick; three sisters, Cindy Jones, Liz Howard and Darlene Boyd; brothers, Jimmy and Charles Jeffrey; as well as nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home with brother, Jaybob Jude officiating. Burial will follow at the Cochran Cemetery on Tadpole Road in Louisa. Funeral services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

“The cause of the crash is still under investigation,” Thompson also said.
