A former employee of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s drivers license division in Prestonsburg, appeared in Floyd County Circuit Court on Friday, Dec. 13, to enter a not guilty plea to charges filed earlier this year.
Brittany Dingus, 31, of East Point, is charged with five counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and one count of unlawful use of a computer.
Dingess is accused of using her position to obtain personal debit card information of several people that she used to make online purchases and then used another person’s email address for those purchases.
According to court records, Dingus was arrested in May for two counts of fraud, one count of attempted fraud, and one charge of unlawful access to a computer. In October, an indictment was filed in the court, updating those charges to include five total counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. Two of which were Class D felonies, for use of more than $1,000 and less than $10,000, and the other three were Class A misdemeanors, for charges more than $500 and less than $1,000. However, the court docket shows all five of the fraud counts downgraded to a Class A misdemeanor.
She was appointed a public defender and is expected to return to court March 5, 2025, at 9 a.m., for informal pretrial and March 20 at 9 a.m., for a formal pretrial.
