Tolsia takes sectional title

GLENHAYES — Tolsia defeated rival Tug Valley 49-39 in the Class A, Region 4, Section 1 girls’ basketball championship game at Rebel Arena on Thursday, Feb. 23.
Taking control shortly after the opening tip, Tolsia outscored Tug Valley 11-1 in the first quarter.
Tolsia led 26-15 at halftime and remained out in front during the second half.
The Lady Rebels led 38-26 at the end of the third quarter.
Kerigan Salmons scored 15 points to lead Tolsia to the sectional championship-clinching win. Along with Salmons reaching double figures for Tolsia, Autumn Block netted 13 points.
Nearly reaching double figures for the Lady Rebels, Amber Stevens scored nine points.
The other scorers for Tolsia in the win included Emily Artrip (five points), Julie Young (four points), Jacey Crum (two points) and Kilee Preece (one point).
Haven Deskins paced Tug Valley with 15 points. Joining Deskins in double figures for Tug Valley, Kenzie Browning scored 12 points and Bailee Hall netted 11 points.
Denting the scoring column for Tug Valley, Haley Gillman chipped in one point.
