Tolsia loses to Wahama

MASON, W.Va. — Wahama pulled away to defeat Tolsia 77-40 on Thursday, March 9.
The loss eliminated Tolsia from the boys’ high school basketball postseason. Following the loss, Tolsia finished its 2023 season 13-11.
The win allowed Wahama to improve to 17-8. After notching the win, Wahama advanced to the Class A State Tournament.
Wahama edged Tolsia 14-12 in the first quarter.
The White Falcons led 29-23 at halftime and put the game out of Tolsia’s reach after the break.
Wahama outscored Tolsia 48-17 in the second half.
Josiah Lloyd connected on six three-pointers and scored a game-high 35 points to lead Wahama to the win.
In addition to Lloyd reaching double figures for Wahama, Sawyer VanMatre scored 18 points and Bryce Zuspan netted 10 points.
The other scorers for Wahama in the region matchup were Eli Rickard (six points), Ethan Corey (three points), Wyatt Harris (two points), Hayden Lloyd (two points) and Aden Young (one point).
Wahama made 10 three-point field goals in its winning effort. The White Falcons shot 77.7 percent (14-of-18) from the free throw line.
Parker Watts scored 20 points to lead the Rebels. Watts was the only Tolsia player to reach double figures in scoring.
The other scorers for Tolsia were Ben Clayton (nine points), Bryson Muncy (four points), David Dingess (two points), Jayson VanHoose (two points) and Bray Mollette (one point).
Limited offensively, Tolsia made only two three-point field goals. The Rebels shot 60 percent (six-of-10) from the free throw line in the season-ending loss.
