Lawrence County ranked first in Preseason 15th Region Rankings

LOUISA — Lawrence County is ranked first in the Kentucky Prep Softball Preseason 15th Region Rankings.

The region rankings were compiled after voting from coaches.

A perennial 15th Region title contender, defending 58th District champion Lawrence County is ranked ahead of Johnson Central, Pike County Central, Belfry, Shelby Valley, Pikeville, Paintsville, Magoffin County, Martin County and Floyd Central.

Johnson Central is the reigning 15th Region champion.

Following a loss to Johnson Central in the semifinals of the 15th Region Softball Tournament, Lawrence County exited the 2023 season 29-7. Lawrence County compiled the best record among 15th Region high school softball teams during the 2023 season.

Several experienced players are back for 15th Region frontrunner Lawrence County, a team under the direction of longtime head coach Kenny Horn.

Kentucky Prep Softball, which promotes the high school sport around the state, ranked teams in all 16 regions.
