Tigers fall to Letcher County Central

WHITESBURG — Minus multiple starters sidelined due to injuries, Paintsville was limited as host Letcher County Central pulled away to win 18-7 in a non-district matchup in Week 8 of the 2020 high school football season on Friday, Oct. 30.
Following the loss, Paintsville dropped to 5-2, while Letcher County Central improved to 5-1 after posting the win.
Junior quarterback Carson Adams led Class 4A, District 8 member Letcher County Central to the victory.
Senior quarterback Jake Hyden paced Paintsville. Hyden completed 18 of 33 passes for 229 yards. A veteran signal caller, Hyden produced Paintsville's lone touchdown, reaching the endzone on a rushing attempt.
Paintsville rushed 36 times for 89 yards and one touchdown in the win. Luke Hyden led Paintsville on the ground, rushing 21 times for 71 yards.
In addition to Luke Hyden, Zach Taylor, Nathan Marsillett, Mason Lovely and Austin Allen rushed for positive yardage in the Tigers' setback,
Devin Hall paced Paintsville in receiving, hauling in seven receptions for 67 yards. Along with Hall, Taylor, Luke Hyden, Karsten Poe and Jonah Porter each added multiple receptions for the Tigers.
Poe led Paintsville's defensive effort, registering 17 tackles and one sack.
Paintsville entered the final week of the regular season set to host Breathitt County on Friday, Nov. 6.
