PAINTSVILLE — Paintsville defeated Mountain Mission (Va.) 76-60 in a boys’ high school basketball game on Wednesday, Feb. 8.

The Tigers hosted Mountain Mission for their Senior Night.

Senior Connor Fugate led the Tigers to the win. Recording a game-high double-double for Paintsville, Fugate scored 35 points and pulled down 14 rebounds.

The other senior for the Tigers, AJ James, followed with 16 points.

Accompanying Fugate and James in double figures for the Tigers, sophomore Jase Kinner netted 11 points.

Paintsville shot 40.6 percent (26 of 64) from the field. The Tigers shot 38.7 percent (12 of 31) from three-point range, connecting on a dozen three-pointers.

Perfect in a key area, Paintsville shot 100 percent (12 of 12) from the free-throw line.

Contributing to the Tigers’ win on Senior Night, Brock Woods (six points), Ethan Cole (five points) and Ethan Ward (three words) added Paintsville’s other scoring.

Helping Paintsville inside, Woods claimed six rebounds.

Paintsville and Mountain Mission met for the first time in the 2022-23 boys’ high school basketball season.
