Short named Class 3A, District 8 Coach of the Year

LOUISA — Lawrence County Head Coach Alan Short has been named the Class 3A, District 8 Coach of the Year.

The Kentucky Football Coaches Association honored Short.

An experienced head coach, Short guided Lawrence County to the Class 3A, District 8 title. The Bulldogs finished 4-0 in Class 3A, District 8, registering wins over Letcher County Central, Powell County, Estill Cunty and Magoffin County. Overall, Lawrence County compiled a 9-1 regular season record.

Short has also guided Lawrence County to a region championship game. The Bulldogs are now 11-1 and will visit Bell County in the third round of the KHSAA Class 3A State Football Playoffs on Friday, Nov. 21. The Bulldogs and Bobcats will battle for a region championship.

Short will be recognized and received his district coach of the year award during the KHSAA State Football Finals at Kroger Field in Lexington in early-December.

The coach of the year award winners for Class 3A are as follows: District 1 - Melvin Cunningham (Murray), District 2 - Josh Robins (Butler County), District 3 - Hunter Cantwell (Christian Academy-Louisville), District 4 - David Clark (Lexington Catholic), District 5 - Kyle Niederman (Lloyd Memorial), District 6 - TJ Maynard (Russell), District 7 - Dudley Hilton (Bell County), District 8 - Alan Short (Lawrence County).
